Dress like Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe was certainly not the only Hollywood diva, and she’s not the most beautiful either. Yet there’s something that stick about her. What is it? It’s probably her timeless class, her style and her ability to wear super expensive accessories and clothes and make them look classy and like it was no big deal. That girl could bring the bling!

Marilyn might have been quite a simple girl in her life, but on stage she was the ultimate diva. Her stylish beauty spot and her halter dresses remained a trademark of hers. When we wear a halter dress with a short curly bob and a red lipstick, we can’t help but thinking about her and trying to channel her a little bit. Marilyn Monroe is about creating your character and sticking to it, that’s what she did and what she had to teach. She was all about branding!
Did you know that Marilyn wasn’t even a natural blonde? She was a brunette, but she decided to bleach her hair at one point in her career, and that made her fame skyrocket. The weird thing is that she was actually very self-conscious about her body, and she suffered from depression and low self-esteem. Yet the image that came to the public and to us today is that of a beautiful smiling woman who know how to strut her stuff. How can you be a little more like Marilyn (minus the depression and the suicide)?

How to Dress like Marilyn Monroe

Dresses. Marilyn was famous for almost always wearing a dress. Watch your Colours. Never wear super bright colours, unless we’re talking about red. Marilyn only wore colours like beige, brown, black, cream, green, and white. She also wore patterns, like stripes or polka dots. You can mix solid colours and nice patterns, too.

Shoes. Of course, the most famous shoes Marilyn was seen in were peep-toe heels. You could also opt for a nice pair of high-heeled white sandals like in the famous scene with the halter white dress. Generally, all pinup shoes will do: ballet flats, red heels, kitten heels, traditional pumps, black stiletto heels and so on.

Accessorize your Outfits. This is a very important step. Learn how to use your accessories and you’ll be halfway through. You should of course wear diamonds! We’re joking, but make sure you wear the right amount of bling in your outfit. Other Marilyn’s accessories are thick belts worn on the waist, black cat eye sunglasses, a white wide-brimmed hat, a gingham handkerchief wrapped around your head.
