ASOS
More like underwear as shouter-wear.
ASOS is selling a minimalist, modern spin on a garter belt, which the angry internet has roundly confused with pants.
The $23 “Truly high waist leg cut-out harness” appears to be lingerie — it’s styled on the model with a matching bra and underwear set — yet online critics are convinced that it’s a poorly designed pair of crotchless bike shorts.
On an Instagram account devoted specifically to ASOS’s fashion fails, one commenter wondered where a person could possibly wear such a garment.
“Can you imagine this something [sic] for a family lunch with your grandparents? Or in a theater?”
Well, no — not unless sporting bedroom garb to visit granny is your thing.
Another user lamented the prospect of “dodgy tan lines.”
Sounds like someone plans to get freaky al fresco.
Thankfully, a lingerie expert on Twitter came to the rescue, in response to a Daily Mail article about the so-called controversy.
“If you’re confused — they’re not for you,” wrote Cora Harrington, author of the book “In Intimate Detail.“
